Hudson's Baptism

It was an interesting day at church today. When we walked in the door we found out there were two other babies being baptised, so that meant that Jeff's dad (who was going to be baptising Hudson) would have to change everything he planned to say and sort of "wing it" instead. He did a great job and everything went without a hitch. Well except that Hudson got upset and thought he needed to breastfeed as we were standing up in front of the congregation! Oh and Kaylee kept insisting that she wanted "down" so she could play up there. But Phil (Jeff's dad) said some wonderful things about Hudson's great grandpa James - because that's who we named Hudson's middle name after - Hudson James. Great Grandpa K loved the church, loved theology, and he loved the Lord. He did a wonderful job of passing along God's truths and love to his children and he charged us to honor him in doing the same.

I wish my parents could have been here, and the rest of our families as well. But hopefully you'll enjoy sharing the day with us via this blog. Now if only I could share the wonderful lasagna dinner we had afterward! Hmmm...

Here's the Smile that Lights My World

Fall Madness

I was determined to have a perfect fall family day at Stoney Ridge farm. Jeff's parents are visiting and we figured this would be a great time to go. Problem 1 - Jeff had to work. Problem 2 - Kaylee is afraid of tractors and pumpkins and getting her hand stamped and many other things. Problem 3 - WIND AND RAIN.

The day started out beautiful. Patches of sun and cloud. A balmy, breezy 70 degrees. Leaves flying in the air. By the time naptime was over and we got up to Stoney Ridge farm, we had only 20 minutes to explore before the rain and wind came...

We saw bunnies and horses and cows and ducks and sheep and pigs and goats and donkeys and turkeys and peacocks!
Here comes the wind and rain!
We quick dove into the nearest shelter. (Un)Fortunately it was the donut shop on the farm. Who knew farms had donut shops?!
Here's Kaylee waiting for her sweet treat. She's been working on that apple since this morning!

Hudson was around too...but he was sleeping and mostly hiding under my jacket. Here's a more recent picture of him. I got a great shot of him smiling on my mother-in-law's camera. I'll post it as soon as I get it downloaded!

Hopefully we'll get back to the farm later this month when Jeff has some time and we can pick out our pumpkins and also a bunch of apples. But I won't have my mother-in-law here to help make the applesauce and pie filling :(

Smiley Face

But I shouldn't neglect to update this blog. Hudson is growing so fast and so far I haven't written much about him.

All in all, he's been a pretty good baby. He gets colicky in the evenings, but tummy time seems to help with that. He seems to choke and spit up a lot. I'll have to ask the doctor about that at his next appointment. But the most special thing about him is that he smiles a lot.

It's so easy to make him smile. I just love that about him. You have to catch him though after a nap and a full tummy - then you don't have to do much, just look at him, and he gives the biggest grins. His smiles are infectious. His eyes squint and his smile goes off to one side, kinda like he knows something you don't. Or that you just told him the most hilarious joke. I've never known a baby to smile so much and so easily as Hudson.

A Few Days in the Life

I got inspired to have some more arts and crafts time with Kaylee. So here we are on a gorgeous afternoon, on the back deck. You can see below the fine HOMEMADE fingerpaints I made while Kaylee napped:
But I soon learned that Kaylee doesn't like to get her hands dirty. She'd put one finger in, then wipe the tiny bit of paint off on the paper, then wipe her hand clean on the towel. Repeat. Repeat... done. Wow, art time was sure fun!

I don't think it comes across in this photo, but Hudson has some very deep blue eyes. I can't get enough of them!
I found this shirt at a garage sale. Isn't it great?

This must've been Saturday night. Look at that gorgeous moon. I was fortunate on Sunday to be out walking when the full moon peeked up over the mountains. I couldn't believe how fast it rose and how big it was!
On Sunday we went down to the water. I never knew we had a "beach" in Bellingham!

So these are the last of my pictures. While I was sitting at this beach, holding Hudson in the carrier, he suddenly jumped and the camera fell out of my hand. Sand got into the door that opens the shutter and now we can't get it to open. SO... no more pictures for a while! Oh that makes me so sad!!

I just have to add that Kaylee has a new phrase which is so cute... "Oh nice!" except she draws out the "nice" - kinda like "noice". It's so funny to me.

Art Class

A friend of mine has decided to host a preschool art class every Wednesday morning. This past Wednesday was our first class and Kaylee had a great time! The theme was "bubbles". First they painted bubble wrap and then stamped paper onto it. Kaylee made one in particular that is her absolute favorite. She carries it around with her. She even slept with it last night. This morning she had it with her when she got out of bed. I'll take a picture of it and put it at the head of this blog.

The other project was to put food coloring into clear soap and then blow a bunch of bubbles. When you "stamp" the paper down onto the bubbles, it makes a really cool print.

I can't even tell you how much Kaylee loves bubbles. She loved this one most of all, I think.

Of course Kaylee had to taste it. YUM...bubbles!

Hudson was just hanging out enjoying the nice weather.

Here's Ailin. She loves Kaylee! Lately she's been referring to her as "my Kaylee". Kaylee doesn't seem too sure about that. :)

Four Weeks Old

Hudson got his first chiropractor adjustment today. He seemed to really love it:
